Title (English) | Remi the homeless boy |
Title (Japanese) | Rittai anime ie naki ko | Advertising Fantasy Novel |
Notes | Original name: Rittai anime ie naki ko Genre: literary anime. One of two anime adaptations of the novel Sans Famille by Hector Malot. |
Classification | - |
Synopsis | In the book, a boy made homeless by poverty travels around with an old musician. |
Review | This version is more faithful to the book than the WMT adaptation ie naki no remi in that in the latter the main character is a girl, Remi. In this version, made for TMS by Osamu DEZAKI, the sufferings of Remi and his companions are powerfully portrayed, with many scenes of poverty and hardship. In one such scene the monkey, Joli-court, insists on performing and then dies. It's a fairly easy anime to follow even if you don't have a copy in a comprehensible language. |
