Title (English) | Alexander |
Title (Japanese) | Alexander | Advertising Fantasy Novel |
Notes | 13-part TV series based on a Japanese novel by Hiroshi Aramata. A.k.a. "Reign". |
Classification | - |
Synopsis | Queen Olympias lears of a prophecy that her son will destroy Greece. At the age of 18, Alexander is very popular, and defies his father's orders to win a victory against the Athenians. Angered, King Philip repudiates his wife but soon dies. Alexander becomes King and invades Persia, surviving plots against his life and killing many former friends. |
Review | The designs, by Peter Chung, a Korean, are unusual and very striking, and the storyline is interesting, with non-historic fantasy elements. The backgrounds look nothing like ancient Greece and, if they look like anything familiar at all, could be described in terms of futuristic science fantasy. Well worth watching. |
