Synopsis | The much talked about TV re-make of the Bubblegum Crisis OVA series - itself one of the landmarks of Western interest in anime. |
Review | For my money though it looks rather different it's just as good as the originals if not better; with OVA-quality animation and much more sophisticated characterisation. Linna as a country girl is entirely convincing; a real personality - likewise Priss as a truculent biker girl. In common with a lot of recent anime it looks somewhat less like a comic and more like live-action. There's also a stunning action sequence seen from the point of view of a hardsuit. Only the music is inferior to that of the original. Buy. (Note that the DVDs are much better value than the tapes, to the degree that the difference could pay for a cheap DVD player). |
