| Review | I just watched the first episode of "Clamp Campus Detectives", which is being re-broadcast on the KidsStation in Japan. Uh, I'm almost without words( at least without words that aren't derogatory ). Is the whole series
similar to the first show?
I'm presuming that this is supposed to be some sort of parody of 1980's shows, done in a quasi-shoujo manner with the three effeminate lead characters substituting for the typical "cute" Clamp little girls. I found myself wishing desperately that the old gray-haired broad in the episode would transform into some sort of hideous monster who would eat the faces off of the three little poster kids for devil spawn. Come to think of it, I bet Go Nagai could have done something interesting with this series. ( Of course, I always wanted to see Go Nagai direct some episodes of CCS too. ) That's it! There's my answer for the perfect OAV sequel to "CCD" - "The Clamp Detective Kids Meet Devilman Lady". The worst part of all this, is that now when I watch the many new shows that my friend has sent to me this week I won't be able to be as critical of the weaker shows. Dave Baranyi ( Who wouldn't mind sicking Vampire Miyu on the brats either. )
Hmm, I rather liked this series when I saw it a few years ago. The stories are charming, and don't contain any violence or any insults to adult intelligence. As for the artwork, it's enough to make fans of pretty anime art melt all over the floor. |
