Notes | 50mins x 13 eps.
Simultaneous DVD release, 50 mins per episode. This is an anime-original. A manga was made later and ran in "Dengeki Daioh" which is shounen or seinen. So the anime's shoujo assignation is tentative and could be disputed. |

Synopsis | Hikaru and Tsubasa were twin sisters but Hikaru had a big secret. She was not a human but made from liquid biometal which was the alien technology. |
Review | From CS digital broadcasting anime channel, Anime Theater - X
(729ch SkyPerfecTV) will feature the CS original anime series
titled 'Figure 17 Tsubasa & Hikaru'. Hikaru and Tsubasa were
twin sisters but Hikaru had a big secret. She was not a human
but made from liquid biometal which was the alien technology.
Production staff of this series will be the same with OLM
(To Heart, Koutetsu Senshi Kurumi, Senba Yuriko/Takahashi Naohito)
so this seems to be promising. (CALCI)
Earlier this evening I watched the first episode of "Figure 17 - Tsubasa & Hikaru", the new "hour long" ( actually 47 minute long ) sci-fi anime that is playing on the AT-X network in Japan. My friend doesn't receive AT-X, so I had to buy the first DVD release: Bandai Emotion, BCBA-0824, 16:9 aspect ratio, 5800 Yen. The series is being released once a month on TV, and also once a month on DVD. It is made by the same people who made "To Heart" and has very similar character designs and background illustration styles.
The double-length episodes give space to add a lot of material about everyday life which is quite interesting. Overall it seems rather preachy in places, and I wouldn't rate it as highly as the less formulaic "Alien 9". (GC) |
