Synopsis Year 2015, Japan. Kamina Ayato is a high school student, who is going to his sport club, when he sees a space vehicle attack his town. Everything is destroyed, and he meets a mysterious girl, Reika.
Men with blue blood try to detain Ayato, but he escapes and meets another mystery girl, and they make their way to an underground installation. Here, there is a giant egg. The chanting of a woman's voice is heard, the egg hatches and then Rahxephon appears�

Review Apparently, a future Japan is the victim of an attack whose nature is being kept secret from the public, and the Allegretto and Ayato Kamina may be the only hope.
This seems to be the sort of anime where one watches it trying to figure out what is going on. In episodes 1 and 2 we encounter the young male hero, at least one mysterious schoolgirl, and a female secret agent who tries to recruit our hero while fighting some Men in Black who bleed blue blood when injured.
Then there are some statue-like mecha which hang in the sky and blast each other. I think Rahxephon is the mecha with wings hiding its face, but don't quote me.
This is so obviously trying to be the next Eva, but one can at least say that it's intriguing.
