| Title (Japanese) | Mahou no Star Magical Emi | Advertising Fantasy Novel |
|
| Notes | There is a manga by Arai Kiyoko. "Emi" is the third of Studio Pierrot's magical girls. |
| Classification | shoujo |
| Synopsis | Mai is a wannabe conjuror who is given an old mirror and then the fairy Topo offers to grant her a wish. Mai transforms herself into Magical Emi, who can perform spectacular on-stage magic. |
| Review | Mai (red hair, short ra-ra skirt) can transform into Magical Emi (green hair) who performs in the conjuring troupe "Magic Carot" run by Mai's grandmother. Mai gets her magical powers from a fairy who has transformed into a flying squirrel. Her parents run a bakery shop. Emi performs tricks so spectacular they have to be real magic, and gets the troupe a spot on television. A young hunk whose parents are conjurers acts as a love interest for Mai & Emi. I thought that this magical-girl anime was pleasant enough, but not outstanding. Male viewers may be distracted by Mai's very short flared skirt. (GC) |
