Synopsis | Ureshiko Asaba is a magical-girl, and she is also 26 years old, and a married woman. She is separated from her husband, and lives with her grandmother in the city of which she
is guardian. Ureshiko's secret magical name is 'Agnes Bell'. Her replacement, a much younger magical-girl, is about to arrive. Ureshiko unsuccessfully uses a spell to make her vacuum cleaner work. The younger magical girl, Sayaka Kurenai, a.k.a. 'Kruger' - is introduced as a transfer student at a city school. Kurenai is a disagreeable girl, and also much plainer than the decidedly attractive Ureshiko. Two boys provoke Kurenai by dumping the class clean-up duty on her and handing her a broom - bad move! Soon Kurenai is flying around making tasteless changes to the appearance of the city. Ureshko transforms, pulling on a magical-girl costume that's far too small, and on an adult woman looks less than decent, and launches a counter attack, negating Kurenai's changes. Kurenai crashes with a motor-van. Next, the new lodger arrives at the grandmother's house. He has seen 'Agnes Bell' flying off after the crash. Kagura is an athlete recovering from an illness. He and Ureshiko get along well, helped by the way they keep tripping and falling on each other, and it's obvious that they'll be at it like rabbits in an episode or three - except that Ureshiko, fearing that she'll lose her magical powers, says that 'kissing is forbidden'. |
Review | A magical-girl anime, which, unusually, looks as if it is intended for the boys. Not a great anime, but rather fun, not least because Ureshiko looks gorgeous. The scenes in
which 'Kruger' flies around the school and then the streets transforming everything are exciting and well done too. Not recommended for younger viewers - trust me, you won't want them asking you what is going on in one of the eye-catch scenes... |
