Synopsis A comedy drama about the everyday life of some art college students.

The hero, Takemoto, lives in a wooden rooming house with other students. One morning he invites his housemates to share a large bag of croquettes brought back by the mysterious student Morita, who has just returned from an unexplained absence and is sleeping heavily. Morita frequently disappears, to return a week or more later, exhausted but with a wad of money in his back pocket. Morita has twice had to repeat a year because of missing lectures through late-sleeping, and now Takemoto has to wake him in time to avoid another repeat.

Morita fails to respond, till the departing and frantic Takemoto utters the word "repeat". At college, one of the lecturers introduces a new student, Haru (Hanamoto Hagumi) as the daughter of one of his cousins. Haru is small, and cute. Takemoto instantly falls in love. Morita, however, is struck by Haru in a different way and tells her to hold a large leaf, while he photographs her as a small creature from Ainu legend.

In the second episode it becomes clear that Haru is a very talented artist.

Review This has all the promise of being different and very good. Anime with college-age characters is surprisingly rare; the only other example that comes to mind being Gokinjo Monogatari. It would seem that H&C was also aimed at a college-age audience. The character designs look good and the storyline in the first episode is interesting and amusing. There are cameo appearances in the first episode of Yamada and other girls who presumably feature in the story.
