Review | I just watched the Lupin III movie, "Fujiko's Unlucky Days". This tape has been sitting around in my "to be watched" shelf for over a year. Up to very recently I'd been getting more anime from my friend than I could keep up with, so I put movies, OAV's and multi-part "all night specials" in that section. Right now I'm trying to catch up a bit before my friend starts to send me the new Fall season anime in a couple of weeks.
This Lupin III movie was shown in the Friday night NTV movie slot, from which my friend has sent lots of interesting anime movies, including all the Studio Ghibli films. "Fujiko's Unlucky Days" was an okay movie - lots of "James Bond"-style "chase, capture, escape" action, and the usual Lupin gang shenanigans. The plot was concerned with a bunch of bad guys who were after Fujiko because of the knowledge she had about the "the egg of Columbus". The twist in the plot was that right off the bat, Fujiko lost her memory and acted totally different from her usual self. Lupin gets involved with a girl adventurer and treasure hunter who finds and helps Fujiko, and together they go after the Egg. The general animation and music quality were reasonably good, as was the music. All-in-all, it was an adequate and pleasant time waster, even for someone like me who isn't a big Lupin fan.
