The story setting is France in the 17th Century.
"On the first Monday of the month of April, 1625..."
In the original story, the 3 musketers and d'Artagnan (who serve the King) are always at odds with the Cardinal Richelieu (the villain) and his soldiers.

Review It's a long time since I watched an episode of this, but so far as I recollect, it was European rather than "anime" in tone, and quite funny.
