Synopsis What we have here is the typical teenage kid meets alien princess and sets out to save the galaxy.
The main character here is Joe Maya, a teenager who immigrated to Mars along with his dad and brother, Mike, in a futuristic 'New World' setting, and like the europeans, found that the 'new world' was more or less a labor colony. Refusing conscription into the martian military, Joe gets into trouble, makes a run for his life (his and his brother's) and happens to meet a spaceship the likes of which he had never seen, crash-landing on Mars. Of course, just then, that spaceship (The Xenos Five, the bearer of Princess Romena of the Adromedian galaxy) was under attack from their enemies (can't remember their names... but they do use those red giant robots, called shadow-bots, and larger, fiercer titans called stealth-bots. They have a entertaining variety of ninja-style capabilities).
Well, fleeing from the red robots, Joe dives into a hole in the spaceship and finds himself in a docking bay of some sort. There, he meets Iskander, Romena and Romena's handmaiden, Jade. Iskander pulls out a gun and pulls a hasty retreat before Joe could establish proper lines of communication. The only other thing in the bay is a heap of junk in the corner, and that red robot coming up behind him. Joe runs to the 'junk' when it suddenly closes in on him, and *BLAM*. He's the first pilot of the Golden Lion, one of Adromeda's main hopes, first of the Ninja Robots.
Later on, his brother Mike and (possibly) girlfriend Jenn joins him with the other two Ninja robots, called the Scarlet Falcon and the Purple Dragon (Japanime is full of elaborate names). As it turns out, they're the only ones who can pilot them. They can't even pilot each other's robots, just that specific one each. (Joe in the lion, Mike in the dragon, and Jenny in the Falcon). Anyhow, the enemy commander Gratan somehow got Iskander to defect (I'm not very clear on that part... but it's a whole story on its own). That made Iskander first the skeptical ship's captain, then later the enemy champion. So he's a main character too. In the final dozen or so episodes, he and Joe went on duels almost every chance they had. Oh, and of course, this show would be boring without Cybertron, the mysterious Flying Shadow which comes whenever the Ninja Robots are in serious trouble and wipes out their enemies single-handedly, but only when one of their power levels are dangerously low. That's what they later found out. When Romena left the Palace, her father didn't have time to tell her enough about the Ninja Robots. He told her about those three obvious ones and that only ninjas could pilot them, but he said there was a fourth she should know about... and then an explosion blew the chance to explain away. So she knew next to nothing about Cybertron. Cybertron, it turns out, was a very, very powerful Ninja robot. It's only about ten feet tall, very small, where size is concerned, but where power is measured, it outstrips anything whole fleets could throw at it, even Gratan's personal fighter. It killed Gratan and left Iskander the leader of Adromeda's enemies, halfway through. Not only that. Cybertron and one of the other three Ninja Robots could merge, form into a completely new robot, sort of metamorphosis, and that newer one would be pretty much invincible. Almost, anyway. Damien is a martian too, but he's the son of the rebel leader. He joins up with them one sixth of the way through. At about three fifths of the episodes, Joe gets into a very serious situation and comes out of it with flying colors.... and the Flying Shadow. He later becomes the pilot of Cybertron, and Damien takes over the Golden Lion. Iskander, meanwhile, has this huge kick-ass mecha called the Mantis, but it went up one-on-one with Joe in Cybertron and went boom pretty quick. Iskander didn't die, though. He got himself a new robot, one which appeared very, very mysteriously, with absolutely no explanation at all... He calls it the Mantis as well, but it's the antithesis of Cybertron. Equal, in every which way. Except for the other three Ninja Robots and those fleets all over the place, Joe and Iskander would be considered a hundred percent equal, and probably destroyed each other. And that's just the action part. There's lots more, but I doubt you'll want to know it all. Heads up, everyone. It may be old and rather raw, and the scripts could do with a lot of improvement, when it comes to action, mystery and techno-martial-arts, this one grabs the attention all the way to the end. (Especially Cybertron!)

Review This seems to be a science fiction drama, with characters called "Damian" and "Joe" in this Arabic edition, and with red teleporting robots armed with scythes. The love-interest should have caught somebody's eye, and the girls look like they might be designed by Haruhiko Mikimoto. The dialog keeps mentioning "Iskander", whatever that is.
Justin Burrell writes: "Iskander", I believe, may in fact be "Icelander" A good guy who defected to the "dark side", and joined with the evil Emperor against the Andromedans. He is the pilot of the "Mantis", the deadly green robot a rival for Cybertron which Joe pilots. And for added info, both Joe and Icelander love Princess Romena, which may account for most of the hostilities.
As for its watchability, it looks like there is plenty of plot and it could be very watchable if properly translated. Certainly no worse than Macross or Brain Powerd.(GC) Bird spacecraft | Red robots (in case the sharp-eyed are wondering, it was on two different TV channels.)
