Synopsis The series depicts the daily life of the Yamazaki family living in Tokyo in 1964 (=Showa 39), the year Japan hosted the Olympics.

The father runs his own small factory which appears to be next to their home, the eldest son is a college student, the eldest daughter is of high school age, and the youngest son is of elementary school age. The series depicts various everyday incidents: the elder son tries to meet women, the daughter tries to meet boys, the younger son keeps getting into mischief, the elder son argues with his father about the family business, and so on.

Review This anime is clearly intended to authentically evoke the 1960's, for those who remember those times. It is totally a slice-of-life drama and strongly evokes the feel of a different era. It's interesting how different these characters are from the present generation. The 20 year old son has no idea how to dress for a date and clearly has little experience of girls, and the mature- looking daughter is trailed when she goes out on her own. The younger son provides some lighter moments by continually getting into minor mischief.

The series, which is unique in being overtly aimed at seniors, clearly failed to interest young fansubbers (it has been only partly fan-subbed to date), but that does not reflect on its quality or its interest as social history.
