It refers to<br \/>\n      graphic titles published in magazines marketed at Japanese girls, e.g. the<br \/>\n      monthly &quot;Margaret&quot;.<\/P><\/p>\n<p>    <P><I>shoujo manga<\/I> frequently, but not invariably, have a<br \/>\n      characteristic feminine design style and content. Boys not especially or<br \/>\n      solely interested in ultra-violence also enjoy these manga for their art,<br \/>\n      character interest and dramatic storylines!<\/P><\/p>\n<p>    <P>From this, <I>shoujo anime<\/I> = animation <B>adapted from<\/B> <I>shoujo<br \/>\n      manga<\/I>. Again, these frequently, though not always, have a<br \/>\n      characteristic feminine flavour and display interest in character and<br \/>\n      romance.<\/P><\/p>\n<p>    <P>Western fans, particularly those new to the anime scene, often make the<br \/>\n      mistake of trying to class anime as shoujo or non-shoujo on the basis of<br \/>\n      internal evidence such as the style or content of the anime, the presence<br \/>\n      of well-characterised females, and so forth.. This is quite incorrect.
