Fantasy Novel

Notes An original anime, made to appeal to the shoujo market.
The similarly titled manga "Cyber Girls Akhiabara" is an independent work and substantially different.
Classification shoujo
Synopsis A "patapi" is a kind of cyber pet. When Hibari Hanakoganei receives a patapi, she is thrilled and names it "Densuke". When there is an attempt to steal Densuke, Hibari discovers that Densuke is not just an ordinary patapi. Densuke transforms magically into a powerful cyber-fighter who looks like Hibari. Hibari's friends also receive similar patapis, and together they form the Cyber Team in Akihabara.
The transformed patapis look exactly like their owners (but wearing Bubblegum Crisis type hardsuits), when in combat. In the later episodes, a couple of girls even attain the ultimate synchronization with their patapis, enabling them to actually transform into hardsuit mode and merge with their patapis.
Review Finally, I asked my friend to stop recording "Cyber Team in Akihabara" for me. I had seen episodes 6 through 10 and just couldn't get into it. I've been told that "CTA" is a satire of many anime cliches, but it just isn't done in an interesting enough manner to keep my attention. The show looks a lot like "Banno Bunka Nekomusume TV", from earlier in 1998, and there are some connections in the creative teams from both series, but "Nuku-Nuku TV" just "worked" better for me and I liked the characters better.

According to other reviewers, watching an isolated episode or two will make no sense. (GC)
