Title (English) | The Magic Mirror (series 3) |
Title (Japanese) | Himitsu no Akko-Chan | Advertising Fantasy Novel |
Notes | It.= "Stilly e lo Specchio Magio", 1998 English name: The Secret Akko-chan. |
Classification | shoujo |
Synopsis | Akko has a magic mirror that allows her to transform. Period Japanese township setting. |
Review | Boy with parents | The mirror This has a similar setting to the old series, but has the computer generated effects and the complex visual language of a modern anime series. Worth a look for that reason, even if you don't bother to watch more than one episode. It seems a bit toned down compared with the earlier series, in which the fat boy is a thug. The designs are attractive, and the credit sequences, though probably tinkered with by the Italians, seem to contain most of the computer-generated effects. It's apparently intended for younger viewers, and the stories are very simple, but it's often very funny and I like it. |
