Synopsis Robot action anime- kids save world from alien invaders.
Review "Gear Fighter Dendo" - Another robo-toy story with kids learning to save the world ( or save the mall they hang around in ). Almost watchable, if I didn't have other better shows to watch. ( 1 snore )
Dave Baranyi

Sunrise's new robot show for kids in this season was Gear Fighter Dendo. A true decendant of Sunrise's robot action anime. Aliens suddenly attack the earth, and our hero boys ride on the 'secret weapon' of the earth defence force. Quite orthodox and no break nor flaws.
What was most cool of this series was not the anime itself, but a stuffed toy. You can 'program' the combat style using the special command device, and you can match your robot with your friends. Quite well made. The music was full orchestrated and gorgeous. Quite enjoyable. Rating B. (CALCI )

"Gear Fighter Dendo", on the other hand, has fairly ordinary animation - I kept on feeling that I was watching the "second team" from Sunrise. The plot is even simpler - a bunch of transformer toys from outer space invade the earth and kids have to play with robot toys to defeat them. Whoops - wait a minute, that was the commercials for the toys based upon the show. ( Or is the show based upon the toys. ) In any event, GFD is a typical little boy's toy fantasy show - kept super simple and very "clean cut". This series could show up on any Saturday morning TV line up in North America and fit in perfectly without a single edit. (Dave Baranyi)
