Title (Japanese) | Kiko-chan Smile | Advertising Fantasy Novel |
Notes | 7mins x 51 eps? From manga by Tsubasa Yoshiura |
Classification | - |
Synopsis | About a four-year old girl. Kiko is an odd child, very quiet and uncommunicative but diligent and clearly very bright. She is a trial to her parents and to her kindergarten teacher. She has a cat, which just happens to be an apprentice angel from outer space. |
Review | The kind of anime that refreshes a jaded fan's interest in the medium. Though ostensibly aimed at the young, this should appeal to all ages and intellects. Each episode has three sub-sections, the middle one usually starring the cat. The humour centres on Kiko's strange personality. Best of the early bits is the episode where Kiko makes a 6-hour round trip to the beach by herself, unknown to her parents, and manages it all perfectly except for forgetting how to open a cubicle door. It's hilarious. Only in a Japanese series would one find such a celebration of intellectual ability. |
